Two April Write- and Read-a-Thons

There are two opportunities to join forces with your fellow book lovers this month for some writing and reading craziness!

NaNoWriMo’s First Annual Spring Writing Marathon

What: Join the world-wide community of NaNo-ers for a celebration of writing and noveling. Start on a new project or revise an old one, the choice is yours! You can also make a pledge in order to help NaNo’s charitable programs keep going strong.

When: Saturday, April 13

Where: Anywhere you can knock out some words!

Why: To raise money and spread the love of novel creation. Also, there are prizes.

Dewey’s Read-a-Thon

What: This twice-yearly event encourages 24 straight hours of escapism and blurry-eyed book loving. Hourly encouragement posts and progress reports help keep read-a-thonners plugging along, and plenty of coffee doesn’t hurt either.

When: Saturday, April 27

Where: Your coziest reading chair

Why: Because those TBR lists don’t get any shorter on their own.

I love these types of organized marathons for the sense of community they foster, and how you can make some big leaps in your word count and / or reading list in a short amount of time. They can be lots of fun!

At this time, I’m going to attempt to participate in both of these, for at least part of the day. Hope some of you can join me!
