I don’t have a favorite audiobook (yet) because I’ve never listened to one in its entirety! There’s something about moving my eyes back and forth across actual pages and flipping them… flagging them… hm. But maybe Scarlett will be my first! I think I’d love listening to them on walks, or maybe crawled up on the couch with a hot cup of tea.

  2. Laura Hartness commented on:

Oh my goodness– how to pick? I’d guess I’d have to say Hunger Games, which got me into audiobooks in the first place. I simply couldn’t put the book down in 2009, and I knew that using the audio version while driving would enable me to “read” the book while on the go. So now, the case remains the same. If I’m not listening to music while alone in the car, I’ve got an audiobook going. Right now it’s Incarceron.

Thanks for the chance to win!

My favourite audiobook!!! I guess that would be Conspiracy In Death (#8 in J.D. Robb’s In Death Series) – I love that Series!! I’m behind so I’ve got catching up to do! It was last year I think – usually I don’t listen to audiobooks b/c I like to read the book @ my own pace & i like seeing the words on a page – but it was still good :)
And I like listening to audiobooks cuddled up in my bed – it’s so comfy & relaxing :D
    Thx for the giveaway!! :D

  4. Beth Felerski commented on:

My favorite place to listen to audiobooks is in the car during a long trip. Sometimes music gets boring and a book is more exciting to listen to when you’re spending numerous hours driving in the middle of no where.

  5. Monica commented on:

I have limited experience with audiobooks, but I want to utilize them more! I absolutely adored listening to Harry Potter as narrated by Jim Dale – not only did every character have a unique voice, but the voices ‘grew up’ right along with the characters! Completely brilliant. I really want to start listening to more books when I go on walks, am working out, etc. I mean, I love curling up with print books or listening to music when I’m on the go, but I also love getting wrapped up in stories while still also feeling active. What a fantastic giveaway opportunity and I CANNOT WAIT for Cress!!

  6. Liana Chau commented on:

I don’t have a favorite audiobook (yet, LOL.) because well, I’ve never really had the chance to listen to one! If only I could drive, the only thing I would be listening to on long road trips would totes be audiobooks.
I’m eager to read the rest of the Lunar Chronicles!

  7. Kathy Robertson commented on:

My favorite place to listen to audio books is in my car. It’s amazing how much smoother my drive into work goes when listening to a book. On the way home, they help me unwind from my workday and help me forget about the stress if the day.

  8. Aislinn Larocque commented on:

I love relaxing in hammocks while reading books, but the glare from the sun can be a little hard to deal with, so I love listening to audiobooks instead. I even dose off some times haha

  9. Ashalyn commented on:

I always listen to audiobooks while I am working. It keeps my mind more focused plus gives me some entertainment while crunching numbers at the office.

  10. Ellie commented on:

Honestly, like other commenters, I’ve never listened to an audiobook before., UNLESS you count teddy rubskin reading books out loud to me when I was four. Best toy eveer!

  11. Iris Millett commented on:

My favorite audiobook was World without End by Ken Follett because it was such a long but interesting book but he describes everything so it was an easy listen. My favorite place to listen is in the car going back and forth to work. I only have a 15-minute commute but you can still get thru books fairly quickly in 30 minutes a day.

  12. Linda singleton commented on:

I always have an audio book in my car.
And my favorite kids books on audio are kind of cliche but so well done–Harry Potter.
Favorite adult book which I will listen to again is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society.

I loved Cinder and Scarlet and would love to listen to them and relive the fun.

  13. Chrissy commented on:

I’ve listened to so many audiobooks that it’s hard to pick a favorite (though I am partial to Neil Gaiman’s reading of “The Graveyard Book.”) But my favorite place to listen to audiobooks would either be the car on my way to work (being stuck in traffic) or while I’m cleaning the house/doing laundry. It makes those chores go by so much quicker and much more enjoyable if I have a great story to listen to!

  14. Diayll ♥✍ (✿◠‿◠) ♏ (@MomGamerWriter) commented on:

My favorite audiobook has to be a toss up between Shatter Me and Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi ! I am always recommending the series to everyone I come in contact with!!! And believe it or not, I listen to all my audiobooks at work. Sitting behind a desk all day reading medical charts can get a tad bit boring, so I pop on a book and lose myself in the stories. Makes the day go by faster and keeps me highly entertained!!!

  15. Celia Cleaveland commented on:

    1. My favorite audiobook (series) would have to be Harry Potter, and if I have to choose one from the series, Half-Blood Prince. They were all narrated here in the states by Jim Dale, and so I have practically grown up listening to his wonderfully soothing voice reading me to sleep. His Dobby voice is the best. :D

    2. My favorite places to listen to audiobooks would be either as I’m going to bed, or in the car. My mom and I use to commute to work, and we’d always have an audiobook going to and from. Sometimes we’d just keep driving so we could finish a really good part (not when we had to be at work, of course…;P)

  16. Denise B commented on:

Oh my gosh. I love audiobooks because they add so much to the story! So my favorite audiobook would have to be Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen because the story have music going along while it was being read and it just made the story so much more inspirational!

  17. Piper Pakula commented on:

My favorite audio books are probably the Harry Potter audio books. The narrater has such a distict voice that matches the tone of the books so well. But if I win, Scarlet will easily become my new favorite. From what I heard from the video, Rebbecca Soler sounds so amazing!

    2. I love reading audio books in bed. I just love falling asleep listening to a story. <3

  18. Stephanie commented on:

I have only listened to two audiobooks thus far and both of those were children’s books. Out of the two, my favorite is Oh the Places You Will Go by Dr. Seuss. The melodic flow of the audio thrills me.

  19. Isabel Q. (quimbayai) commented on:

I loved the audiobook “host” by Stephenie Meyers…the person doing the voices is amazing…does all the characters with their own twist… I love how she read the males parts it was mind blowing how good it was! I got a copy for my brother when it came out…he loved it! His other favorite audiobook was Warm Bodies.

  20. Mari commented on:

I loved the audiobook from Angelfall by Susan Ee, I love the voice, it fits perfectly, because I think if the voice isn’t good enough it’s no good!!!
My favorite place to listen to an audiobook is in bed or in my car =D

  21. Lau commented on:

Thank you for that great opportunity to win one of these!
I like listen audiobook while I’m running on treadmill… My personal favourite is Jane Eyre; the rich and complex poetry of the text seduce me every time. As I’m still learning English, I like audio book, it’s improve me a lot of way! :)

  22. Emmy Neal commented on:

I listen to audiobooks on my drive to work! I used to listen before I fell asleep–but then I never went to bed :) I think my all time favorite is still the Harry Potter series–the British version with Stephen Fry. Though our American ones are also fantastic!!!

  23. Elizabeth commented on:

My favorite audiobook is fragile things by Neil Gaiman. It has some of my favorite short stories by him also he is reading it and I could listen to him read anything. But I always listen to it while I sew.

  24. Ai La commented on:

2- My favorite place to listen to audiobooks is in the car. Reading while driving isn’t the best choice, I’ve discovered.

  25. Kierra( kikiD) commented on:

I listen to audiobooks practically everywhere. I listen to them while cleaning( to at least pretend I’m working) or just walking. I do like listening to them just sitting on my bed, so I can picture things clearer. And my favorite audiobook was Just One Day by Gayle Forman. It was a calm book, but that is what I loved about it!

  26. Joey S. commented on:

When Wicked the musical came to stage, it started a 10 year obsession with Elpheba and Fiero. I read the books, listened to the books, bought the Grimmerie, I learned the music, performed the music for charity events. I would drive back and forth across my state listening to the audiobook of Son of a Witch. I loved it, it would transport me to that world that I loved so much!

  27. Marianne Jackson commented on:

Where isn’t a great place to listen to audiobooks? But to answer the second question, I’ll pick my favorite. I absolutely love listening to audiobooks in the car… It passes the time and makes driving an enjoyable time for me and not monotonous. Right now I’m actually listening to Cinder! It is wonderful on audiobook! And I am so excited about listening to Scarlet afterwards. :) Crossing my fingers!

  28. Courteney commented on:

My favorite places to listen to an audiobook are on the train or while in the car. I have such a long commute to school, its a nice way to pass the time without the extra weight of the actual book in my bag.

  29. @WritergalJulia commented on:

Enclave by Ann Aguirre would have to be my favorite audio book. I remember listening to it with anticipation, wanting more, and then when I got to the end it just seemed to stop. Out of nowhere. I was busy doing something at the time and I rewound the book and carefully listened. Then I realized that was the end and I couldn’t believe it. I love how audiobooks can build that anticipation. Your eyes can’t just soar through the words when something gets really intense. With an audiobook, you have to wait and listen, and with each passing moment the tension just builds. Audiobooks make you experience the authors words in an entirely different way. They provide a means to interact with the novel in a new way. And Enclave opened my eyes to this new means of interaction.

  30. Alyson C. commented on:

My favorite audiobook(s) so far are the ones read by Stephen Fry for the Harry Potter series. His voices for the various characters are hilarious! I haven’t listened to a lot of audiobooks (mostly because I prefer reading things in myself) but I love them for plane rides or long car trips.
Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  31. Kayla C commented on:

I just got my first audiobook yesterday, actually, but I’m excited to listen to it on the bus heading to class.

  32. Mariah H. commented on:

My favourite audiobook is Clockwork Princess read by Daniel Sharman because I love the way he was able to work with the different languages (Welsh AND Mandarin) and have different voices for the multitude of different characters. And as a die-hard fan of the series I’m pretty critical of all things that sprout from the series, but I think Daniel did a magnificent job. I absolutely love the Lunar Chronicles too, though!

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  33. Kelley (Another Novel Read) commented on:

I love listening to audiobooks in my car! I have to do a lot of driving, so audiobooks have basically been saving my sanity for the past ten years or so. So far, my favorites audiobooks to listen to have been the Harry Potter series and the Wheel of Times series. I’m pretty sure I’ve listened to bother series more than once!

  34. Emiliya commented on:

I love listening to audiobooks sprawled out on a blanket outside during summer while I tan. It’s calming and relaxing, and you don’t really have to think much. It’s like someone is telling you a story.

  35. Kharthiyaa commented on:

My favourite place to listen to audiobooks is when I’m walking to places beacuse whenever I start listening to audiobooks, i get lost in thought as the story starts playing.I feel as though I’m playing as the character and am playing the same actions as them. Whenever it’s at a very tensed moment, my heart starts racing as I get tensed up too. Also whenever I listen to audiobooks, whenever the characters are feeling emotional, I start feeling it too. I also feel the same when I’m reading a book, as if I’m the character, but with audiobooks, it’s the best thing to listen to on the go, anywhere, at anytime!^^

  36. Jamie C commented on:

I have got to say that my favorite place to listen to audiobooks is on the corner of my bed where a wall meets another. There’s just something about it that makes me feel safe and secure while reading so I can easily slip out of this reality for a while and go into another world. Plus it’s easier to hear the words.

  37. Kat commented on:

Wow! Miss Soler has amazing accents! Her voice and your writing, Marissa, really make Scarlet come alive! My favorite place to listen to an audio books is curled up with a pillow on the floor next to my bed! Haha, I can’t drive yet, otherwise it would probably be in the car! Thanks for this chance to win! (Fingers crossed I do!) :D

  38. Cyn T commented on:

I have two favourite places to listen to audiobooks: in the car while I’m driving and while I’m running outside. I love both because it’s usually places I wouldn’t be able to read a book but now I’m never without enjoying a good book.

  39. Baylor Bennett commented on:

I love listening to audio books doing almost anything and anywhere I can get away with it. It all started (unfortunately) with the fact that I got rear-ended in an auto accident and eventually had to have a lumbar back fusion. Being only 42 (43 6/2 is birthday) I have been used to being active and the physical and emotional pain from the back injury L5/S1 disc being blown out left me feeling severely depressed as not only were my every day activities affected, my marriage affected, my ability to work affected, but it even affected my self-esteem and confidence. With the chronic pain, I had to find a health way to distract myself before and after the surgery and I found the world of audio books. I still read physical books here and there, but now find myself always going for the audio book first because I can take long walks with my dog for my health and recovery and I find that I go further and longer because I want to hear the story. I also have recently started listening to them while doing some light housework. I even enjoy listening to them at the beach or pool. It’s awesome to be able to be engrossed in a story and be able to multi-task at the same time and most importantly I’ll actually go take a walk (good for me and my dog) because I want to continue listening to an audio book, so it’s a huge motivation and you certainly cannot read a physical book while walking. Audio books are awesome and they inspire me to walk or hike or even clean the house and they distract me when I need a healthy distraction from any physical pain. I actually have been wanting to listen to both “Cinder” and “Scarlet” for a while now, so fingers crossed that I win :) and good luck to all my fellow audio book lovers as well.

My favorite audio books are the ___ in Death series by J. D. Robb. I don’t understand the lingo when I read them, but after listening to the audio-books I understand what’s going on alot better. I like to listen to them in the car on the way to and from work. I have an hour drive each way. It’s nice to listen to a book to pass the time.

  41. Sarah Orlandos commented on:

I love listening to audiobooks when I’m cleaning up around the house with my sister! We listened to “The Gathering” by Kelly Armstrong while washing dishes, knitting, and just lazying around together. My favorite audiobook was probably “The Princess Diaries” because it was narrated by Anne Hathaway!

  42. Shannon @ Twilight Sleep commented on:

My favorite audiobook(s) by far are the Harry Potter series. Not only are the stories amazing (duh) but the narrating is absolutely phenomenal. The voices are perfection – most of the time he actually sounds like the movie characters! I’ve listened to a lot of audiobooks where the narrator’s voice was annoying and absolutely GRATED on my nerves, but Jim Dale….I could listen to him read, especially Harry Potter, all day and night. *sigh* Sheer audible bliss…

  43. Mary Munar commented on:

I loved Clockwork Princess! Ed Westwick and his Brtish accent was perfect!

  44. Dena commented on:

I listened to Ella Enchanted a little while ago and I loved it. I have only listened to a few audiobooks, but that was by far the best one that I’ve listened to. My favorite place to listen to books is in the bathroom as I get ready in the morning. Sometimes I listen to them in the car, but I find it can be a bit distracting.

  45. Sarah commented on:

I don’t really have a favorite audiobook but the first one I ever listened to was Redwall. As for a place, I love having audiobooks on roadtrips or at night before I go to sleep. Campbellkid(at)q(dot)com. Thanks for having this giveaway!

  46. Samantha S commented on:

My favorite audiobook would have to be the Harry Potter series. Jim Dale is such an amazing narrator. He is the reason I still listen to audiobooks.

I listen to audiobooks in the car on roadtrips–and now, just all the time

  47. Stefanie Sapaugh commented on:

My favorite audio book would have to be Graceling by Kristin Cashore. That’s always been one of my favorite books, and in the audio version, different actors spoke the lines of all the characters. It made for a very imaginative listen while still being unabridged.

My favorite place to listen to audio books is in the car, or at night as I’m falling asleep.

  48. Katie @ Doing Dewey commented on:

I just started listening to audiobooks on my drive to work, so in the car is my favorite place to listen. It makes the drive guilt-free time to focus on books since I couldn’t be doing anything else and it goes so much faster :)

  49. YvonneJ commented on:

I enjoy listening to audiobooks when doing housework and cooking. They really help to keep me motivated. There’s no way I could pick a favorite audio book but I loved Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series that was narrator by Davina Porter. I recently simultaniously listened to the audiobook and read the ebook “The Black Count” on my NookC. It really helped with all of the French names and terminology. I’m currently reading Dan Brown’s “Inferno” but plan to go back and do the simultanious listen/read with it as well….lots of Italian names and phrases. I’ve got Scarlet sitting on my TBR shelf…..I hope I win the audiobook so I can do the simultanious listen/read.

  50. Miranda Fink commented on:

My favorite audiobook is Soulless by Gail Carriger. The narrator does a fabulous job with the accents and the main character. I listen to audiobooks while driving and while on the bus.

  51. WriterAlina commented on:

I have 2 favorite audio books and they are Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game & Ender’s Shadow. Not only are the stories amazing, but the audio productions of these books are fantastic! The readers are great and listening is a true pleasure.

I don’t have a favorite place to listen because I listen anywhere and everywhere I’m allowed to. I love listening to audio books and it’s the primary way I get through my reading.

  52. Annwitch commented on:

I just finished my first audiobook, The Secret. It was a self help book that my friend loaned me. I really enjoyed listening on my way to work. I am now looking at all the above suggestions to pick my next read. I loved Cinder and having Scarlet on audiobook would be fantastic.

  53. Kathy S commented on:

The Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It was the book that got me hooked on audio books.

  54. Sherry commented on:

I like to listen to audiobooks while exercising (cuz it distracts me from to utter boredom of just running) or when I’m in the car and I’m not allowed to read a book. :P

  55. Cassie Hileman commented on:

I love listening to audiobooks in the car, or while puttering around my apartment. I love The Book Thief the best–I almost had to pull my car over on the side of the road I was crying so hard while listening to it!

  56. Jasmine commented on:

I Listen To Audio Books On Long Road Trips!

  57. Elly commented on:

My favorite audiobooks are the Harry Potter series!!

  58. Alyssa commented on:

I love the voice for Iko on the Cinder audiobook. Rebecca Soler is very talented. My favorite audiobook would have to be The Hunger Games!

  59. wandering-dreamer commented on:

I don’t listen to audiobooks that often actually but I won a copy of Shadows on the Moon last year and ended up listening to it a lot when doing photoshop homework this past semester which was the perfect place. If I tried listening on the bus I couldn’t hear over everyone else and just about any other time when it was quiet enough for me to listen I’d be busy focusing on something else. But for all my PS homework it was simple enough that I could listen and focus at the same time plus it was a nice change of pace from all the podcasts I usually listened to (I don’t actually like listening to music much when I do this since then it’s too easy to fuss around with the music instead, give me something long where I can put it on and then not have to touch it for the next 40 minutes or so!).

  60. Jillyn commented on:

    1. What is your favorite audiobook of all time and why did you like it so much?

My favorite audiobook of all time is from the Doctor Who series, entitled “The Resurrection Casket”. I simply adore it because it is read by David Tennant, who has the most adorable Scottish-y voice ever. I could listen to him read the phone book and still be completely enthralled!

  61. Brittney Gabbard commented on:

My favorite place to listen to audiobooks would be the shower. I borrow one of my boyfriend’s computer speakers, hook it up to my Kindle Fire, and prop them both up on the bathroom counter. Waking up to a toasty shower and a good book is seriously the best. My favorite audiobook is Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus as narrated by Jim Dale.

  62. Cassi Haggard commented on:

My favorite audiobook is the entire Jacky Faber series by L.A. Meyer. Honestly if you have not listened to them YOU NEED TO. Katherine Kellegrin is amazing in the role and it’s such a fun adventure – with singing, dancing, penny whistle and accents galore, that it’s a pity that not everyone experiences it on audio.

And as a bonus: My favorite place to listen to books is my car. I feel like I’m stealing reading time I wouldn’t have otherwise and it makes driving enjoyable.

    My email is: cassilee85@hotmail.com

  63. Lisa commented on:

I have too many beloved audiobooks to pick a favourite, so I’ll answer question 2.

My favourite place to listen to audiobooks is curled up in bed. Audiobooks help me with my insomnia and I get lulled to sleep by the story. Often my dreams are filled with the incredible and magical worlds from the audiobooks I listen to. But I make it a point to listen to an audiobook all the way through before adding it to my nighttime audiobook iPod. Yes, I have an iPod just for audiobooks. I rely on them that much.

    Happy Audiobook month!

  64. Sarah commented on:

I love to listen to audiobooks while I’m driving. I have to drive about 45 to and from work everyday and listening to a book makes it go a lot faster! Right now I’m listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I love how Jim Dale does all the different voices!

  65. Julia commented on:

I love listening to audio books driving in the car with my mom. Especially on long car rides, we love listening to the Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich! Lorelei King does an amazing job reading the books out loud with great expression!

  66. Jocelyne L. commented on:

My favourite place to listen to audiobooks is either in my room while I’m working on some random art project, or outside, where I have a view to see while my ears listen <3

  67. Philistine Ayad commented on:

I listened to the Cinder audiobook from my library, when I wanted to “reread” it during a long drive.
I loved it! I’ve only listened to a handful, but it and the Harry Potter audiobooks are my favorites.
The best place to listen to audiobooks is when you are driving! I also listen to them if I am doing something that requires my hands and eyes–like cleaning, making jewelry, drawing, etc.

I’ve only listened to a few audiobooks so far and I honestly think Cinder was great! The reader had great expression and didn’t create any crazy voices!
I listen to audiobooks in my car during my commute to work. Many times I end up not wanting to get out of the car or can’t wait to drive back home to continue listening.

  70. Emma commented on:

I haven’t fully listen to an audiobook ever! On long trips to Maine, I have briefly listened to some of my Dads books but soon I was day dreaming and staring out the window. I think my favorite spot to listening to an audiobook would either be on a relaxing walk or before I go to bed when I am curled up under the blankets and don’t have the strength to hold on to a book!

  71. Rachel Keeth commented on:

My favorite place to listen to audio books would have to be in my room. It is really relaxing to lay in bed and just listen to one of my favorite books, of which Scarlet is one of so I hope I win!

Thank You for this opportunity of winning this wonderful story ( I already have “Cinder”(both audio book and on my Kindle(and have Scarlet on my Kindle as well).) so I am grateful for this chance to win book 2 on audio book(=

I haven’t listened to many audiobooks yet. I’ve just started because my commute to work is an hour one way, and I wanted to actually make something of that time. So far, I’ve really enjoyed the first three PRINCESS DIARIES books because they’re narrated by Anne freaking Hathaway and THE HUNGER GAMES.

  75. Bianca commented on:

I love the Neverwhere audiobook, by Neil Gaiman. He’s a brilliant writer, and a good reader. I fall asleep listening to him read his books to me when I can’t sleep at night. Neverwhere was the second book by him I ever read, and I adored it.

  76. MarZaleen commented on:

I’ve listened to so many audio books it is really difficult to choose a favorite. I really love when the book is read by the author. I laughed out loud listening to Betty White and Tina Fey. My daughter’s and my all time favorite audio book series are the Harry Potter audios performed by Jim Dale. I get swept away every time that I put them in to walk the dog around the neighborhood.

I love to listen to audio books in the car and in my room. I’ll just sit back and listen to one of my favourite books as I watch the scenery go by. Recently, I went to Mont Tremblant, Quebec and the ride there was REALLY long so I brought my iPod and listened to This Dark Endeavour by Kenneth Oppel. In my room I put my iPod on my dock and play books while I paint my nails or something.

  79. MichelleMcR commented on:

My favorite place to listen to audiobooks is in my car during my daily 1 hour commute to and from work. It makes the trip go so much faster when I can lose my mind in one of my favorite books while still focusing on the road. Other drivers do not take kindly to page turning on the interstate at 70-75 mph…I also like to listen to audiobooks in my kitchen as I do dishes or cook or sweep the floor or during any of the other things I have to do in there. Do dishes is not conducive to page turning in a book with paper pages…

My favorite audiobooks that I have listened to so far include: Melina Marchetta’s Saving Francesca or Finnikin of the Rock or maybe Libba Bray’s The Diviners.

My favorite audiobook(s) so far: Diana Gabaldon’s ‘Outlander’ (a series) as read by Davina Porter. What makes it my favorite? Well-researched, historical, multi-character fiction with a bit of sci-fi/fantasy used to give the story a few twists. It is based mostly in Scotland and ‘America’ in the mid to late 1700′s while I have some interest in my Scots heritage and my family history – ancestors with European roots who came to America as the characters in the book(s) do. Ms. Porter is quite good with the range of accents and characterizations she uses, and there are many characters to voice. Ms. Gabaldon’s books tend to be long, and it’s easy to listen for long periods while my eyes are doing something else or are shut rather than becoming over-tired.

I must say I very much enjoyed ‘Cinder’ as having some import, social commentary, and a sci-fi/fantasy twist on a well-known story. As an avid book listener, I find that a variety of fare is good within my favorite genre – I do absorb the weight of such books as George R. R. Martin’s ‘Song of Fire and Ice’ series, but they can be mildly depressing in a way, so moving on at times to something with more smiles and less graphic tragedy is something I like to do.

My complements, thanks, and congratulations to Marissa and her successes so far – looking forward to more!

I don’t really listen to audio books much but my favorite place to read them are 1. In the car, 2. at the beach

My favourite audiobook is the Harry Potter ones. I love them as they really bring the story to life, you can listen to them in your car and they are narrated by Stephen Fry who has a beautiful voice.

  83. Jessie commented on:

I love the audiobooks for Harry Potter and the Iron Druid Chronicles! Harry Potter is just epic and I have no words. As for the Iron Druid Chronicles, it’s nice to hear the Irish pronunciations, but the dialogue between the characters is amazing to listen to and not just read. I commute and do a lot of data entry so you get tired of just listening to music after awhile.

My favorite place to listen to audiobooks is my car on long trips to book signings. I’ve only really listened to the audiobook for Cinder, and totally fell in love!

My favorite audio book is The Fault in Our Stars by John Green the way it is told is just so heartbreaking and adds so much to the story. I love listening to audio books when I go on long walks, especially when I’m in a forest.

It’s hard to pick a favorite audiobook because there is a certain criteria I follow for each book. My favorite books will still be my favorites but the way their read can effect my ranking of an audiobook vs. a book.
My favorite book in Green Rider by Kristen Britain which I have read so many times I feel like I know the characters as real life people. When I listened to the audiobook it added to the overall story. The reader was emotional. She didn’t just read the story but acted it out through her voice. Each character had a voice very much different from all the other characters. The accents were my favorite. On the other hand I just listened to an audiobook of one of my other favorite books (out of many), Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs. The reader was male while expected a female reader. I thought it would ruin my listening of the book but his voice was soothing and gruff. The story came across well and though the female voices were, well, male-ish you could still differ between when each character spoke. Some audiobooks lack that spark but a deciding factor is the book itself as well. A reader needs to make the book a little bit of their own. The emotion carried across will always be important as well as the ability to accent voices of each character. It shows the the reader cares and that feeling will always show in their work. From listening to the samples above, your books will be read well.

As for were I like to listen to an audiobook. Whenever I have time. I listen to and from work since I have a 15 minute drive. If I’m at a good spot, I sit in my car until I hit a good stopping point. During breaks at work as well I exercise, I listen. Finally, I like to listen for a little before bed.

Okay, wow. So I’m behind. I didn’t see this post for some reason. D:

Thank you so much for this wonderful giveaway!

My favorite audiobook would have to be the Harry Potter series, because the voicing is just great. I heard a lot where the voice annoyed me, so a good voice is definitely something I need for audiobooks. My favorite place to listen to audiobooks is when I’m working or cleaning. It does make things go by much faster!

Rebecca Soler reads your books so well! I wish the video would go on longer! It totally fits your writing–it’s amazing! <3

    Thanks again!!

I just finished reading Scarlet and loved it! Your writing flows so naturally, making your books hard to put down. I have recommended and shared my copies of your books with a number of adults and teens who might otherwise not pick them up. Thank you for your superb, suspenseful writing.

My favorite recorded books ever are Here on Gilligan’s Isle by “The Professor,” Russell Johnson, and The Circuit by Francisco Jimenez. As a kid, I was always fascinated by the professor’s clever ideas on reruns of Gilligan’s Island, so I wanted to learn about the man behind that sitcom role. The narrator of Jimenez’s autobigraphical book makes listeners believe he really is the character whose voice he’s performing at the time.

On the (now quite rare) occasions that my older sister comes home, one of our favorite things to do is- believe it or not- read aloud to each other. Mostly Tamora Pierce’s Tortall books. Here’s how it works: while one of us does dishes, laundry, or another household chore, the other entertains them. When the reader starts to lose her voice, we switch places. And when both of us are completely hoarse, we listen to one of my sister’s Full Cast Audio recordings of The Immortals Quartet (a family favorite. At last count, there were three copies of Wild Magic in the house, and I suspect my sister has her own paper copy). Sooo… my favorite place to listen to audiobooks would have to be the kitchen, especially when Jenn is there to talk about them.

Belive it or not the Cinder audio book was the first audio book I ever listened to. Plus I loved it! I could never pronounce the name of the ilness properly till I heard it on the audio book. I loved how the woman reading the book on the CD was able to change her voice to match the characters as well as their emotions so quickly! I liked it so much I kept listening and reading along till it was 3 in the morning! My mom flipped out! But it was worth it to listen to such an admazing version of cinderella all night long. Never in my life could I have come up with such an admazing plot and story line! I even got my cousin reading it! She keeps spaming me about questions that are anwsered in the book! We both are itching for the next book Cress to come out!

  91. Allison R commented on:

I know you are only suppose to answer one of the two questions but I am going to be a rebel and answer both!

My favorite audio book was The Perks of being a Wallflower. I listened to that about 5 years ago for a class I was taking in grad school. I was driving to visit my sister in college and was crying at the end of it. People probably thought I was crazy, lol.

My favorite place to listen to audio books is in the car. I live far from family so on my long drives I listen to them

  92. Josie commented on:

I love love love audio Books! I love to listen to them mainly in the car…45 min commute each way..ug but this helps pass the time and seriously, sometimes when i get home i hang out in my car to KEEP LISTENING!!! Love reading but also love a good storyteller!

My favorite audiobook of all time probably is down to two… The Harry Potter books because I love the narration of Jim Dale! He is one of my alltime favorite readers! I’m picked up Night Circus mainly because he also read that too…and my childhood favorite, Mandy by Julie Andrews…I used to listen to that cassette tape over and over and over…

  93. Katie Fatiga commented on:

Any Harry Potter book on tape! Back in the day, I said back in the day (I sound like my mom), I used to have to read them to my little sister using all the voices. Now that we are adults, we go on family road trips together and listen to them. Jim Dale’s readings are so fun! They remind me of being little again!

  94. Jessica commented on:

Before I had kids I would have said my favorite place to listen to audiobooks was in the car while sitting in traffic…now I’d have to say it’s when my kids are in bed and I’m sewing. It’s awesome to be able to concentrate on something that doesn’t require a visual ;)

  95. Chagall commented on:

1 My favourite audio-boook is the italian traslation of Mark Twain’s “The diary of Adam and Eve” read by the Italian actress Angela Finocchiaro. I love it because the book is beautiful and Angela’s reading is perfectly in tune with the mood of the story.
2 Home, relaxing on the sofa or on my bed.
    Bye Enrico.

  96. Meghan Olbrys commented on:

It’s so hard to choose a favorite audiobook. I’ve listened to some great ones. Although Tina Fey’s Bossypants was quite entertaining! I have two places I love to listen to audiobooks. One is at my desk at my internship. It makes the work day more interesting when I’m staring at excel spreadsheets. The other is in the car. Driving anywhere becomes 10 times more fun when someone is telling you an amazing story!

  97. Dana commented on:

I love listening to audio books in the car, especially on longer drives. I actually haven’t listened to an audio book in full in about a decade! And from that time, my most memorable was probably The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon or Shelters of Stone (or any of the Earth Children books)!

  98. Abby H. commented on:

I LOVE listening to my audiobooks while walking around on campus. I go to Ohio State so we have a HUGE campus, and I hate wasting time that could be spent enjoying a book! Plus it’s a great way to relax after a tough class. Sometimes it’s fun to walk around with no destination in mind and imagine the people I see around me as characters.

  99. Shalayne Anderson commented on:

My favorite place to listen to audiobooks is my bedroom. I also have cordless headphones so sometimes I walk around the house and do odd little chores while i’m listening.

  100. Leigh Smith commented on:

All of the Harry Potter’s done by Jim Dale. Amazing. When I reread the books I always hear his voice in my head. Funnily enough, I just picked up the first 5 today because the library was getting rid of their cassettes and I was like, “I’ll take them!”

  101. Mary commented on:

My favorite audiobook is “Crank” by Ellen Hopkins. I think what interests me the most about it is hearing the poetry. It is one thing to see a poem and learn about the story from a visual medium, but it is another thing entirely to hear the expression of the poetry and the vocalist’s embodiment of the character through that poetry. You get so much more of the sarcasm and the main character’s switch from preppy to druggie. Plus there’s the matter of understanding the other characters through the narrator’s perspective, which I feel is amplified through the audiobook. It’s just such an interesting experience.

  102. Philistine Ayad commented on:

I listened to the Cinder audiobook from the library I work at, when I wanted to “reread” it during a long drive.
I loved it! I’ve only listened to a handful of audiobooks in, however, the Cinder one and the Harry Potter audiobooks are my favorites.
The best place to listen to audiobooks is when you are driving! I also listen to them if I am doing something that requires my hands and eyes–like cleaning, making jewelry, drawing, etc.

  103. Kaitlyn Petrow commented on:

My favorite place to listen to audio books is in a loud place like the airport or on a walk in the city. I love tuning everything and everybody out and entering a whole new world in a book!

  104. Mikyla Miller commented on:

My all time favorite place to listen to audiobooks is on long drives to visit my cousins. Lets me sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. I also don’t have to worry about the radio cutting in and out.

I love audiobooks and usually listen in my home office as I work. They are perfect for work-at-home time!

So far, I think my favorite audio book of all time is Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor, narrated by Khristine Hvam. The story is good, but I think that Khristine Hvam’s voices and narration are just amazing. I like to try to listen to audiobooks when I work out, but since I’m not great about that, I also listen while I’m driving or doing chores. I probably listen the most while doing laundry, since that seems to be a never ending job! lol

  107. Nikki Diehm commented on:

My favorite audiobooks are the Harry Potter versions performed by Jim Dale. He is just absolutely magical, and the voices for every character are simply astounding! I also more recently loved The Scorpio Races audiobook–the way the performers read the narrative was just brilliant and captivating.

Thanks for doing the giveaway! :)

My favorite audiobook of all-time. Normally, I’d go with The Graveyard Book, because Neil Gaiman’s pretty amazing. However, Beauty Queens by Libba Bray wins out. This is because a) it’s an awesome book; b) Libba’s narration is fabulous; and c) I was actually so engrossed in the story, laughing, that I got a speeding ticket :-/

Which answers part II- my favorite place to listen to audiobooks is in my car, either for roadtrips or on my way to work.

  110. Jess commented on:

I honestly haven’t listened to an audiobook before but the two I really want to listen to are Redshirts by John Scalzi (as read by Wil Wheaton) and The Fault In Our Stars by John Green (As read by John Green). Sorry, it’s the Reading Rainbow training kicking in. :)

What is your favorite audiobook of all time and why did you like it so much?

I really don’t have to think about this one. It’s Inkspell by Cornelia Funke, specifically the one that Brandon Fraser did. He has a way with words that makes it stick and melt. I’ve read the InkWorld Trilogy in its entirety four times. But I have listened to the Inkspell audiobook at least a dozen times! I’ll never tire of it!

  112. Wren B. commented on:

I have only listened to one audiobook but I am wanting to find one that is really good. So I don’t have that much experience in the audiobook world. I am curious to hear this one though :). Thank you and my email is heyprettiel at hotmail dot com.

  113. Laurie C commented on:

Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman, narrated by Lenny Bruce, is still my favorite, maybe, although it’s awfully hard to pick just one. I loved the audiobook of Anansi Boys so much and was so impressed by the perfection of the narration that I started my book blog mainly so I could tell the world how much I loved it!

  114. Stephanie commented on:

The last audiobook I really enjoyed was Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. It was just heart-breaking, and I think the audiobook version really hammered that home. I don’t listen to audiobooks often, but when I do, I’m typically in my car or cleaning my house.
