Website Launch: Quiz and SCARLET ARC Giveaway!

Posted on: 16th May 2012  /   Categorized: Giveaways

As promised: welcome to my first giveaway on the new blog!

So. SCARLET ARCs are due to be printing in the next week or so (YAY), but I’ll only receive a limited number of them, so I’ve decided to make the giveaways a tad bit more challenging than a basic Rafflecopter form (largely thanks to the input of Twitter folks).

This month’s giveaway, celebrating the launch of, is a QUIZ! All answers can be found SOMEWHERE ON THIS WEB SITE. There are no trick questions.

On to the quiz!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Nuts and Bolts:

– Open internationally
– Ends June 8, 2012
– ALL QUESTIONS MUST BE ANSWERED CORRECTLY to be entered to win. However, I will be lenient on spelling.
– Newsletter sign-up is OPTIONAL, but it will give you one extra entry.

(I plan on doing one giveaway per month until SCARLET releases on Feb. 5, and I have plenty of fun new challenges in mind for ways you can get your hands on an ARC! Be sure to check back frequently.)

Hihi! =D I’m so excited to be part of your new website! n___n I don’t mind if I don’t win, I’m just glad to be part of all of this excitement. πŸ˜‰ Your giveaways are exciting (though, I kinda didn’t finish entering the last one because I got sick), but hopefully, I’ll be more lucky with this one. ;D Your new site looks great; I especially love the top left-hand side of your site (with the images of the moon and the pagoda). Can’t wait to hear more from you! Oh, and I like your playlist; I’m glad that I know all except 1 or 2 artists (it makes me realize that I don’t listen to crappy music n__n). Oh, and from the “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon” movie, my favorite was Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars. =) Anyways, thanks for being such a devoted author!

  6. Kristina commented on:

  10. Cleo commented on:

I was clicking on links as I love to do and wound up on your recommend page and was super excited to see that you had “The Replacement” on there! That’s one of my all time favorite books! Have you read her new book? Its super good too. Also “The Goose Girl” was one of the first redone fairy tales that I read. If you’re ever in the mood to read new books, you should try Melissa Marr’s “Wicked Lovely” series or “The Seer and the Sword” by Victoria Hanley.

  11. Ashley @ Book Labyrinth commented on:

Honestly this was a lot of fun because it was a little bit of work without being too difficult, plus a great way for us to explore your fancy new site. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for the giveaway!!

  17. Shauna commented on:

This was a blast, thank you! Cinder was one of my absolute favorite books this year, and one of my all time favorites in general of any of the books I’ve read throughout the years, so I cannot wait to get my hands on Scarlet. By the way, your website is utterly fantastic. πŸ™‚

  18. Marissa commented on:

Thanks, Shauna! So glad you liked the book and are liking the web site. I’m just thrilled it’s DONE, lol!

  21. Andrea @ The Overstuffed Bookcase commented on:

Thank you so much for this giveaway! Scarlet is the only book that I will basically do just about anything to get an ARC for. (Well, not anything – I’m not that crazy!) So even if I don’t win, I’ll be sending your publicist an email! πŸ˜€ I’d also love to be a part of any kind of blog tour – cover reveals, interviews, giveaways – you name it! I can’t wait to read Scarlet and the rest of The Lunar Chronicles!

  22. Michelle @ In Libris Veritas commented on:

Thanks for the chance!! I loved Cinder and I can’t wait to read Scarlet.

  23. Zoe commented on:

I love this giveaway! It was so much fun and it helped me familiarize myself with the new website! The website is looking REALLY amazing and I really like the ID section! How come Glitches wasn’t under books? I know it wasn’t technically a book but it’s still available as a nook book.

  24. Siv Hege commented on:

What an awesome giveaway! But for something else: does anyone else have chapters 30-32 missing in their Cinder book? Mine jumps from chapter 29 to 33 :/ I don’t think there are any pages missing though πŸ™‚ I’ve just finished Cinder and cannot wait for this series to continue! πŸ˜€

  25. Siv Hege commented on:

Let me rephrase that: my book jumps from page 282 to page 315, there are three chapters missing; but i don’t know if there are anything of the story missing. Please let me know if any of you have the same problem πŸ™‚

  26. Marissa commented on:

Hi Siv, that’s very unusual! I haven’t heard of that happening before, and I’m quite sure that you are missing pages (I just checked mine and all the pages and chapters are in correct order). It must have been a printing/binding error. You could probably take it back to the bookstore and exchange it for a complete copy. πŸ™‚

  27. Siv Hege commented on:

I’ve sent a mail to the site I bought it from, hopefully they’ll send me a new copy, if they don’t i’ll just buy it again from another site πŸ™‚

  28. Lynn commented on:

Loved this book! My friend gave it to me when I was swamped in homework, and I swear, I became more efficient/productive because of it. I couldn’t procrastinate (the load was that bad!!!) but somehow, I managed to squeeze in time to read Cinder. Anyone else know what I mean? Reading it under the dinner table? A little sleep-deprived?

  29. Sashana commented on:

Thank you for the opportunity to win! I found so much cool information while looking for the answers. Its a win/win!

  30. Marissa commented on:

Zoe – Good point re: Glitches! I’ll look into adding it to the Books page.

Lynn – I love that Cinder helped you through your school work! I do that all the time – I’m much more efficient when I have a great book waiting for me at the end of my to-do list. ^__^

  31. Artemis commented on:

I love your new website and thank you for the great giveaway!

  32. Eliseleo commented on:

Crossing my fingers ! I just finished reading Cinder recently, and was looking forward to read more of Cinder’s journey and just found out that it’s not yet out!!! The torture!

  33. source commented on:

Hey there, I just hopped over to your site thru StumbleUpon. Not somthing I might generally read, but I enjoyed your thoughts none the less. Thanks for making some thing well worth reading.

  34. Jessi commented on:

I knew there was a reason Cinder totally resonated with me. I should have guessed that you were a fellow Sailor Moon fan. The live action was ridiculous but I still ate all of it up. To this day my shelves hold the entire manga series in all its poorly translated glory.

Also your book recommendations list is pretty much my favorites lists. Props.

  35. MaryAnn (@chapterxchapter) commented on:

I can’t wait for Scarlet!! If it’s anything like Cinder was, it will be beyond epic! So excited for it to come out πŸ™‚ Thank you for the awesome giveaway!

So excited for this giveaway! Devoured Cinder, and still had time to write my university papers and study for finals! Cinder was totally worth it!
Loved exploring your blog more and finding out all these fun facts about you!!

    Fingers crossed!

  39. Lynn commented on:

Wow! I didn’t expect you to reply! That just made my day. I came to see how many days were left until the results and I went– “Why are some of the names grey…? Oh– Marissa?! She left a reply?!” So, thanks! It was cool, down-to-earth cool.

  40. Rebecca Gorham commented on:

Thanks, Marissa. What a fabulous opportunity!

  41. Lynn commented on:

    Ah, darn. Didn’t win.

When I initially left a comment I appear to have clicked on the -Notify
me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now
on each time a comment is added I receive four emails with the exact same comment.
Perhaps there is a way you can remove me from that service?

My partner and i experimented with checking out your web site using my apple, ipod touch and the structure does not are most often appropriate. May want to take a look about WAP as well as it seems many cellular phone layouts aren’t going to be truly working together with your site.
