Inspiring Stats from the Write Like Crazy Challenge

I am still speechless at how successful this challenge was! I was honestly afraid when I posted about the challenge that I would hear nothing but crickets back at me. That I would post my final word count and no one would respond.

INSTEAD, you guys blew me away with your determination! (And, let’s face it, kind of made me feel like a slacker.)

Some Challenge Statistics

# of words you had to write in order to beat me / win: 133,917

# of participants who did just that: 21

# of participants who are probably cyborgs: 21

# of participants who breached the half-million words mark: 3

Most words written by one participant: 561,921 (Way to go, Sam!)

Which breaks down to: 18,731 words per day

# of words written between me and all 21 winners: 5,131,353 (THAT’S RIGHT. FIVE MILLION WORDS.)

All winners have been contacted about claiming their prizes.

I’m also hoping to host some interviews later this month with the challenge’s top word-count success stories. Because I think we could all glean a little bit of advice, tips, and morale-boosting from them!

Congrats again to the winners and to everyone who met their personal writing goals during November. Good luck with your revisions or future writing projects, and may December bring you many well-deserved naps!
