Paying Homage: The NaNoWriMo Scarlet ARC Giveaway

Posted on: 26th Nov 2012  /   Categorized: Giveaways

Announcement #1: The book trailer giveaway is still underway and I am thrilled with how many people have watched the trailer and entered to win! I love the trailer and am glad so many of you do too. There are 3 days left to enter, so if you haven’t yet, go here!

Announcement #2: Someone asked about pre-ordering signed copies of Scarlet. I believe you can pre-order a copy now from Garfield Book Company in Tacoma, WA, and I’ll be able to sign it at the launch party on February 5. I think they’ll even ship international. Scarlet’s not listed on their site yet, so I would try calling or emailing them. (You can also order signed copies of Cinder.)

Announcement #3: My NaNoWriMo pep talk went out last week, landing in the nanomail boxes of 300,000 nano-ers! Read the pep talk here – I hope you’ll find it inspiring!

Announcement #4: Can you believe it? I am down to my last two Scarlet ARCs! Which means it’s time for another giveaway!

The NaNoWriMo Winner Giveaway

CINDER and SCARLET both started life as Nano novels (in 2008), and I wanted to pay homage to that by hosting a Nano-centric giveaway this year. I also wanted to reward all you inspired, hard-working writers who said, “This month, I am going to stop giving in to excuses and setting aside my dreams. This month, I am going to write that novel!”

Unfortunately, I only get to reward ONE writer who fits that bill (the rest of you will have to be content with the enthusiastic flush of success and the winner’s certificate made for you by the good people at NaNoWriMo.org).

So if you’re doing NaNo this year, you have five days left to cross that 50K mark, submit your word count, earn yourself that shiny Winner Badge, and enter to win a signed Scarlet ARC!

To Enter

Step 1. Finish your 50K novel by midnight (your time zone) on November 30.

Step 2. Submit it to the Nano word counters and earn your shiny Winner badge.

Step 3. Add me as a buddy. My username is aliblade22. (Left over from the good ol’ fanfiction days, and I’m now too attached to my account to change it.)

I will randomly select one winner from my buddy list to receive the ARC on November 2 to ensure all time zones have had a chance to finish.

Open internationally.

I wish you all loads of inspiration and happily ever afters as you reach The End. Good luck!

(And don’t worry, if you’re not doing Nano, my final giveaway will go live in December and anyone will be able to enter that one.)

Arugh, of course this is the first year when I’ve had so much schoolwork I can’t get anywhere near finished on my NaNo, normally this would be no problem for me. Stupid senior year….

  2. Alyssa M commented on:

I hope the last contest is international! I read Cinder in one day and I can’t wait for Scarlet! Thanks for the chances to win a copy! :)

  3. Leigh Smith commented on:

Yippee! This is actually the first year that I’m actually on par and looking good to “win” it. And that’s after having six no-word days. I was so proud of myself for catching up and this would be a nice cherry on the top for sticking it out! Thanks for the chance to win, it’s awesome that you’re doing this.

I understand your pain, Dreamer. It’s my senior year of college and I haven’t been able to WRITE period, much less worry about word counts and such. It’s killing me. >,<

  5. Kathryn Purdie commented on:

I’m so excited about the NaNo giveaway and only 5k away from that golden 50k!

  6. Seabrooke commented on:

I would love to win this! I absolutely loved Cinder, possibly my favourite book of 2012, and am impatient to read Scarlet. I’ve wished I had more time to enter your other contests – happily NaNo was one I was doing anyway. :)

What a great giveaway!! Luckily I won in the twitter chat last Friday :D otherwise I’d enter this! Am so happy, I am nearly at the 50,000 word count. Ideally, I was hoping to get to 70 – 75 000 but with this last week being full of midterms and papers, I doubt I’ll get there. Unless I power through on the weekend haha.

    Good luck!!
    Best,
    Loie

  8. JessDay commented on:

Well this stinks, I’m a YWP member with a 40,000 goal so I don’t apply. But good luck to all the other NaNo-ers out there!

  9. Marissa commented on:

JessDay, I’m not sure how the YWP program works, but if you get a winner badge like the regular nano-ers and you’re able to add me as a buddy, then I’ll accept that. :)

  10. Michelle G commented on:

This is actually my first year doing NaNo, and I’m still shock I actually made it to the 50k mark. I loved your pep-talk by the way.

Thanks for the chance at an ARC, I’m super excited for Scarlet, and good luck to all of the other NaNo-ers out there!

Alas, my NaNo didn’t quite get finished. I’m still plugging at it, and am aiming for a personal NaNoWriTriMo (giving myself three months :-) )

Thanks for your pep-talk. It was one of the few I actually read. And I was actually able to use some of your advice, so thanks!
